The Florida Ten Goldback (1/100 Troy Ounce 24k Gold)

Goldbacks debuted with the release of Utah Goldbacks, offering Americans the first form of spendable gold in nearly a century.

Goldbacks are designed with 24-karat gold and feature unique designs for each denomination honoring the heritage of the state for which each series is issued.

Florida is the latest state to have a Goldback Series, and it marks the debut of new denominations in the form of 1/2, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 Goldbacks.

The 10 Florida Goldback Gold Note features a detailed design capturing the height of early industrial innovation in Florida. The message INNOVATIVE IDEAS BUILD FUTURES at the bottom explains the scene as the Flagler Railroad chugs along the east coast of Florida. As the young woman in 1920s-era clothing leans out of the car, dolphins swim in the coastal waters below.

Henry Flagler transformed Florida’s east coast through his Florida East Coast Railway, which he extended from St. Augustine to Key West between 1885 and 1912. This remarkable feat of engineering, often called “Flagler’s Folly,” included the unprecedented Over-Sea Railroad connecting the Florida Keys. The railway opened up Florida’s east coast to development and tourism, leading to the establishment or growth of cities like Miami, Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale.
